If You Could Turn Back Time

Standard

If you could turn back the hands of time, would you  have the courage to do it? Knowing what you know now, would you do anything differently? Do you feel you were destined to be standing where you are now, in this very spot with the people in your intimate circle or do you think you have more control than you once believed based on the decisions you made along the way and you are here, in this spot because of them?

I can’t help but think about how different my life could be if I had chose a different direction when I came to the important crossroads that showed themselves in my path. Did I choose right? Is this where I am supposed to be or was I meant to be in a different time, a different place, somewhere far from here? The truth is, I will never really know but one important thing I have learned is this. We only get one chance to dance through life. No matter what stage we are on or who is up there with us, we have to give it our all… the best performance we’ve got. We don’t get to do this thing again so we have to be happy wherever we are. We have to make the moments count and find meaning in each and every day, in all our relationships. We have to find our happy in the little moments and the little blessings and be here right now. No looking back, no looking forward, just finding peace in the moment we have right now. I believe it is a choice. Mind over matter, common sense over emotions that drag us down. What do you think? If you could turn back time, would you do it?

  1. I WOULD NOT CHANGE ANYTHING IN MY PAST. I WOULD LIKE TO TURN BACK THE CLOCK TO LIVE IN HISTORICAL PASTS (STAYING MY AGE) JUST KEEP WHAT I KNOW. WOULD LIKE TO MOVE THE CLOCK FORWARD TO SEE WHAT IS IN THE FUTURE, AND IF ANYONE IN OUR GENERATION (25 OR OLDER) WENT TO THE FUTURE WOULD BE ABLE TO RUN THE WORLD BECAUSE THEY HAVE SOCIAL SKILLS THAT NEWER GENERATIONS ARE LOOSING LOL

  2. This made me think of a lecture I listened to by Alan watts yesterday called the limits of self awareness. Also a movie called Mr. Nobody. I can’t help it my mind always seems to make these connections

I think it’s a fun idea to think of going back and doing things better or different but if I’m honest I don’t think I’d want to even if I could. I truly think people will always regret the past thinking they could have done better… Could have made different choices… But if we really could go back it wouldn’t change much in my opinion, we would still be faced with a seemingly infinite amount of information that could inform or choices and we would still only be able to choose one path in each moment.

Here is the lecture I mentioned in case you’re interested.

  3. I’d change certain things from my childhood if I could, but that would depend on my child self being the decision maker, the person in control (which of course is not possible) .. as for my adult past ..there are many things I regret doing, decisions I regret making, but.. I wouldn’t change things, because.. I learnt from those mistakes, and recognise that without those wrong turns I wouldn’t be where I am today – most significantly..I wouldn’t have met my second husband, nor had my 5th child πŸ™‚

A thought provoking post! Thanks for sharing x

  4. I wouldn’t. I don’t know how different I would be if I made different choices. Would I have met my husband? Would I have my amazing career? I don’t know. Thanks for the thoughts.
