Late or On Time?

Standard

It seems like there is no sense of urgency anymore. I think it’s a blessing and a curse that people are on their own time clocks these days but is it making us irresponsible?

Question: if you are not ready but need to be someplace at a certain time(work/school/meeting), will you finish what you have to do and show up late or will you stop what you’re doing to show up on time?

Why?

  1. I will never understand how anyone can ALWAYS be late. To me it is about as RUDE as you can get. I am one of those who is always early. I have been known to wait in the car for 30 minutes before I am suppose to be somewhere.
Arriving early….is not a good practice either unless it is work….

I have an “old school” mentality about this topic. On time for me means I am there 15 minutes early. It is a HUGE pet peeve for me when people show up late.

I like to be early. There have been cases when being early gave me more power and recognition which put me to the advantage later on. I hate being late and calling negative attention to myself.

  4. The lack of respect probably gets worse the more eyes are drawn to glowing screens instead of what’s in front of the person. I was raised to be prompt and dedicated, but I was an early victim of cartoons and Tandy/IBM Computers. I wasn’t the sharpest at the keys, but I was mesmerized. Nowadays, a two year-old can run a “smart phone.” I dunno why I blame technology, I just do. 🙂

Personally, knowing myself, I’d probably show up late after slapping myself a dozen times, saying “I know, but just one more minute while I finish this line…just one more minute while I daydream, looking at this picture that’s supposed to inspire me….just one more minute while I go get something to eat because I’ve sat here so long, now I am hungry…just one more minute to do that because I spent the last minute on something else. Sigh. 🙂

I would stop what I’m doing and show up on time. I hate being late for anything and sometimes I get the kids ready for school a little too early and since I can’t see the bus outside and have gotten it mixed up once or twice with the FedEx truck, I go on the safe side and would rather have them wait a little bit or wait myself than miss the bus.

And no, the FedEx dude wasn’t going to come pick up the kids. lol.
