This site is about everything from my philosophy on life to the little things that make me laugh. IIt is about living, and breathing, and pausing long enough to take it all in. I hope it makes you laugh, sometimes makes you cry, but always makes you want to come back for another visit. It is your words, and your likes that inspire me to keep writing. And it is through my writing that you have a very large window to my soul. Relax awhile, read, and enjoy!
Not sure if I believe this is the only way to grow and progress. But, strife certainly makes one stand up and take action. So I’ll say I agree, to a degree.
Yes because the quote says, “Without struggle there is NO PROGRESS”. I believe struggle can lead to progress but I don’t think struggle is necessary for it to occur. You know how opinions are though, they are a dime a dozen 🙂
I believe that a person can progress with and without struggle. However, we do tend to make the most *drastic* progress when in the midst of or after recovering from struggle. That is where our most important lessons are learned.
I agree with the sentiment. Reason being, I cannot think of a single advance from a societal standpoint, that was made without some type of struggle. Without struggle people have no reason to change. Just as the baby struggles to be born, so does progress. Can someone name an advance that was made without some form of struggle?
The quote doesn’t specify societal progress. I know in my own personal life I have made progress without struggling. That’s just my two cents. Sometimes choosing differently is progress. No struggle there. Just a decision.
That is definitely a new perspective, perhaps you could provide me with an example; because there could be things I am overlooking that might be considered progress.
Progress to me is improvement. Moving forward. Making life better. If I scream at my kids everyday, it’s a choice. If today I make a choice to practice patience, I have made a positive change or progress in my life. There is no struggle involved. Just a choice to not repeat old patterns. A chance to know better and choose better and be better. That’s about as simple as I can make it. I don’t have to suffer and beat myself up for being a bad parent overwhelmed by guilt and shame. I simply make a new choice, love a different way.
I believe this is true. If we’re constantly in our comfort zones, we cannot really progress. We could still improve, but if we’re seeking for growth, I believe struggling is inevitable.
(just like how we learn to write, talk, walk, and etc)

Perhaps Frederick Douglass once a slave was referring to the people who are slaves back in his time.

I’ve also watched people I love choose to remain in a place of suffering and that never lets them get anywhere

Your words are very true. Sometimes it’s easy to overlook the progress we make from an emotional and personal growth perspective.
