So I watched the video of the teens in Chicago torturing a special needs man. I have no words to describe what I felt as I watched the video play out. I was thinking, how in the world could someone be this cruel? To cut and hit and humiliate someone and at the same time have the audacity and fearlessness to post it as a live feed? As a mother of teens myself, it bewilders me how anyone could find something like this funny. Why do people think they can behave any way they want and get away with it? Do they really lack the brain cells to realize the seriousness of a situation like this one? All I can say is if I was the parent of one of these kids, I would send them away to those special schools that strip kids from every single thing and make them earn it back. A school that teaches humility and discipline, integrity and consequences. I am truly ashamed of the way people behave today. The hostility and lack of compassion in some people’s words and actions are enough to make my heart feel sick. Such cruelty in these times we are living in. When did people become so cold and mean? Not my world, not my people. We are so much better than this.
I agree with your stand. It’s really saddening to watch such situations unfold and to feel a sense of helplessness.. All we can hope for is that they will come to their senses, better sooner than later.

I’ve been watching this for 20 years in my profession including living with 50 other kids that were teenagers. The bottom line is it’s the parents responsibility to train them up in the way they should go. The world is not going to teach them the right thing the world Rewards anything that will get a camera’s attention. I was just talking to my son last night he was 22 and he was just telling me how when he went to high school you could tell by the behavior of the child who the parents are

So true but I do my best to raise my children right. The problem is, as they get older, they are more influenced by the outside world as they spend less and less time at home. My kids and I often butt heads because they are taught history and tolerance differently than we were. I do believe parents play a necessary role but some kids rebel and stray. All we can do is hope we did our best. These kids have no fear today. The consequences are minimal. It’s so hard to even parent these days. I feel like my voice is much smaller than my moms years ago. I will never give up though.

Yes its true. I kept my kids in Sunday school as little kids it wasn’t so much me telling them my opinion but from someone else in from a whole different Source the Bible they were getting things that would stay with them the rest of their life but still with them today it wasn’t legal words from my mouth so it seems to have worked because it’s stayed with them

We can never predict what will stick and what will blow over. Only they can decide that for themselves.

Well, that depends on your understanding of or view of scripture. If you do not believe that those are actually powerful word breeds from God then they won’t mean anything but I really do because I’ve seen the evidence and my life and my children’s life so to me it’s not a book or opinion but it really does depend on the parents Viewpoint and how they want to bring their children up as far as God goes that’s the bottom line

I had the opposite happen. My daughter turned off on church and God the year she was confirmed. I have no idea where it came from even today but I have learned that pushing her towards something she is turned off on is not healthy for either one of us. Doesn’t matter what her parents think or anyone else. It’s been hard on all of us.

However I will say this I did the exact same thing and my mother never worried and I wondered why. And one day when I was older I asked her and she showed me her Services if you train up a child in the way that you go they will not depart from my ways and sure enough we all came back sometime

You did your part. Delay never means denial with God. Keep praying and believing for them

Yes ma’am. Its also promised that not a single word in the scripture will ever return void . our job is to become very familiar with the scriptures so we know which scriptures to believe for and pray on each day to remind ourselves of the truth God doesn’t need reminding but we do

I can promise you with 100% certainty from my own personal experience there is no substitute for getting in the word everyday and renewing your mind because the word is exactly opposite of the world so when you walk out your door everyday the world try to talk you out of your face out of the word the word actually tell you the truth or what’s going to happen you have to choose was it going to leave the world of the work and stand on one of them

If that’s the issue that you’re struggling with right now is wavering between believing that God has and believe in what you’re saying with your eyes I have a lot of information it will save you a lot of frustration and I’ll be glad to share with you when I have a little time my email is TJ Petri 16 @gmail when you get a minute send me an email and I’ll start corresponding with you about my personal experience over 35 years of wavering back and forth on how I ended up in the last 10 years using to stand on one side rather than the other and why

Unfortunately, I think that social media has a lot to do with it. People these days are all trying to one-up one another with shock value. Not only can they now live out their evil temptations, but they can get glory for doing so. It’s sick. The media and society as a whole s should shower people with praises when they do good, and punish them and give them no attention when they do bad. Maybe then, people would seek out good attention, rather than evil.

Yes I agree. It’s so backwards these days.

As a mother of an Autistic son, this really breaks my heart. I cannot imagine this happening to my son, special needs or not. Sadly though, I have to pry info like this from my son. Up until just last year (age 17) he always said that everyone was nice to him. He thought that people being mean to him was their way of being his friend. People like my son are targeted just for that reason – others know that in most cases they won’t speak up. It makes my blood boil to think about it and to think about what all my son goes through that I don’t know about it.

As a mom of a special needs teenager it broke my heart. I worry every day about his life and the future he will have in this country. He doesn’t understand people’s motives and thinks they are friends. The rise of social media for feeding people’s egos and feelings of power is scary.

I worry as well and I can understand your concern. Social media is becoming a real problem and people’s need for “fame” is not healthy.
