A fool is made more of a fool, when their mouth is more open than their mind~Anthony Liccione
Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment~ Benjamin Franklin
It’s almost amusing to me that just because I responded differently than the car behind me would have liked me to that the whole ridiculous situation resorted to horn blowing, flailing hands and name calling. Yes, the girl behind me looked me right in my eyes that were looking at her through my rear view mirror and called me stupid.
I am many things, and as hard as I am on myself, I do not include stupid on my list as one of them. It made me think of that quote, you know , the one about what someone’s actions say about them.
The lesson is this. On a normal day this whole situation would and could’ve ruined my day, but as I pulled away that day I realized that the problem wasn’t me at all. I did what I thought was right in the moment and when I am making decisions about my life that is in my hands, I will make the safest choice possible. There is no amount of beeping or name calling that would have made me react any differently. But, because I am always about teaching, when the light turned green, I showed that driver behind me exactly how a stupid person would really act. Yes, I paused there several moments before I put my foot on the gas. Not because I was being a wise guy but because that girl needed to find a moment to calm herself down. Hope I helped.
