America, Are You Being Played?

Standard

Sometimes I wonder if people will ever get it. I don’t often comment directly on worldly events but each day that passes by, I feel more embarrassed to call myself an American. When I see people line up to fight to the death with family and friends over the latest headline, I wonder how such trivial matters have become worth dying for and how being a decent human being has become a thing of the past. I shake my head as I wonder repeatedly how such nonsense can draw such attention and conflict. Someone from a private meeting attracts the attention of the circus media and by golly folks we have another show. We are the ones being played by attending another performance but go ahead and waste hours of your lives arguing over matters that are so ridiculous. He said, she said. He tattled, she reported. We are like a middle school playground and frankly it’s not only embarrassing but downright shameful. This game has consequences beyond the pettiness that plays out in Washington. And we the people line up along each fence and join in the childish behavior like our lives depend on it. Am I seriously the only person who sees through this stuff? Why would we purposely cause drama and blow every single thing so far out of proportion that we are seriously at war with one another over everything and anything? I won’t play this game because I realize how damaging it really is. I am surprised people are so willing to be played by their hatred for a president or hatred toward contradicting political parties. How sad and wasteful of the time we’ve been given but my opinion is one of many and we certainly have no shortage in sight when it comes to them. They are a dime a dozen and everyone of us has more than are necessary but we will stand up and speak our truth til we are blue in the face rather than make a single move to work toward cooperation and peace. We keep telling ourselves we are fighting for a cause, making a difference. Look around you because we certainly are. We are leaving our mark no different than a dog. This is our legacy. Own it. I’m not proud.

When Enough is Enough

Standard

I am amazed at the amount of people who voice that a particular person is “the” problem. Personally I don’t think anybody holds that amount of power. I chuckle to myself as I remember something my momma used to say. If you aren’t part of the solution than you are part of the problem. Funny how some never do see it that way. It’s so easy to point that long condemning finger at someone else. I guess it makes people feel important, better, smarter. I think it makes you look very small. But then again, I’m usually busy watering my own grass to notice whether or not yours is even green. There comes a time when enough is enough. If only that time was now. I’m not sure it will ever come and it makes me feel sad.

Who Wants My Ticket? I’m Done With This Show!

Standard

I am very disheartened by the news that so many performers are either backing out or simply afraid to perform at the inauguration. I don’t care who you voted for or how you feel about Donald Trump. This should be alarming for all of us. We call someone a bully and then in the next breath we stand together to bully anyone who stands in the way of how we think everything should be. The hypocrisy is so loud it is screaming for us to take notice. Our lives have started to take place in a circus tent where we have become the monkeys and we are putting on one hell of a show. When did it become so hard for people to be told no? We  will continue to bully and berate as we abuse the freedoms we were given to inflict our way. The truth is, there are more people than those like-minded few who we lock down in our inner circle. I don’t care what side your on or whether you lean this way or that. Last time I checked, the world was round and flat so there were no sides or tilt to one diresction or the other. The sides we speak of are of our own creation and the only reason we choose a side is to show that we are against the other. I don’t even want to talk about this anymore but is getting so out of control that it causes me so much distress. People against bullying bully. People who want to include everyone are dividing. Am I the only one who sees the hypocrisy here? We the people are fed up. I know this person is. Why even bother to spread a good word and be a decent human being when the rug is being yanked out from underneath me? When will it stop? When you get your way? When I get mine? What about when our ways are different? Should we fight to the death? Destroy each other and our country one day at a time at the cost of winning the golden trophy? You can have it. I’m done. Not everyone wants a ticket to this ridiculous circus. I know I don’t.

The Clock is Counting Down

Standard

In a sea of opinions, use your voice for something good. Spread hope, peace and positivity. Be honest but tactful, open yet reserved. Do not give every thought a voice. Spend time around people who think different than you and really listen to what they have to say. Listen to understand and learn, not to respond and judge. There is no right or wrong, just different. Different people, different wants, different ideas and that’s okay. We are not robots. We are not programmed to think and act alike. Respect someone’s differences and if you want to make assumptions, assume you know nothing about anyone else. How could you? You don’t walk in their shoes, pay their bills, stay up late and night and face their demons in the dark. You do not know. Stop telling yourself you do and please stop passing judgements. You are not God. None of us are. We are simply a group of people sharing the earth for a limited amount of time. Make it count. Our stories, though different, will all end the same. Stop wasting precious time on things you convince yourself matter but really don’t. The clock is ticking and we don’t get a single second back.

We The People Are Very Selfish

Standard

Just turn on the confirmation hearings, the news, click on social media and you will hear people yelling and screaming about what they don’t like and don’t want. No one knows how to be slightly uncomfortable anymore. People really think that the world revolves around their comfort and desires and they have forgotten how to behave when things don’t go exactly they way they would like them to. We call our dissent, our continuous need to  bitch, bully and moan freedom of speech but I would bet that most child psychiatrists would agree     we are really having full blown, adult tantrums while dragging down humanity and society with our dignity. The truth is, this is not about you. It’s not about me or Dick or Jane. Like it or not, it is about all of us as a whole. What makes me feel good might make your blood boil and you’re just gonna have to learn to live with that without causing a commotion everywhere you go. We get it, really! After 5,000 posts slamming Trump, it’s clear you don’t like him. Guess what? No one cares. For the person who continues to post negative memes about Obama, we hear you too. You don’t like him. We heard you the first post but by the 700th post people are going to get sick of your whining. You’re opinion is not that important. What is important is that you are purposely trying to piss other people off while you shove your opinion down our throats. Your argument is that you have the right to say and do anything you want, the right to express your opinion and fight for what you believe. You do not have the right to tear this country apart. You may be able to unfriend anyone who didn’t vote the same way you did but like it or not you are going to have to coexist in real life with people who think differently than you do. Grow up. Cut it out. Get over yourself and stop making the same choice day after day to divide this country even more. Be better not bitter and try being an example to follow that might just start to heal our country and start to bring us back together. Or are you too selfish for that? Who is this about? You or all of us as a whole? I guess we’ll find out next time you decide to post. We live in a world where we expect children to act like respectable, responsible adults and yet we  adults carry on and behave like children. This is the time we need a change more than ever before. It’s time to start seeing ourselves in the mirror and clean up the image we are close to destroying.

Be a Lighthouse

Standard

I woke up this morning.

The end.

Some days I awaken to anxiety. I guess I bring it on myself when the first thing I do is check email and hop onto Facebook. The truth is this argumentative, in your face, haha, I’m making my point, posting is enough to make me never want to step foot out of bed again. This constant, I’m better than you or she’s better than him bickering and defending of total strangers is complete nonsense. There are so many adults acting like little children. One more tantrum, making another point, having the last word…it’s killing us all. Sometimes I think we would be better off if we couldn’t communicate or share so much of ourselves. We are sharing the WRONG parts of ourselves. That is the problem. And what worse? It gives us a sense of superiority. We enjoy fueling a fire that is destroying humanity to the very core. People don’t seem to know when enough is enough and though many cheer that behavior on, my insides scream please stop. No more. I cannot for the life of me figure out what is so wrong with people today. We are so busy being up in everyone else’s business that we forget to take care of our own. Just because we are entitled to our own opinion does not mean we need to shove it down everybody’s throats by insulting those we know already don’t agree because we’ve made the same point over a million times or arguing with someone to invalidate a point when their mind and their main people think exactly the same. Less talk, less opinion, less tension, less bullshit, less baiting tweets and posts and speeches and nonsense. More of what matters. Do we even know what that is anymore or is tearing the country, the world and the people apart exactly what matters most? Actions speak a hell of a lot louder than words but they are being drowned out by the nonsense clutter. Be accountable for who you are. Someone else is not your concern. You work on you. Speak less but say more. Be a lighthouse and not another boat lost out in a sea of muck. Be a role model and example that so many desperately need today. There are far too many of the outspoken, ruffle feathers kind. Time to start a new movement of behavior and it starts with you. Be bigger. Be better. Please, I need you to be.

F Everything. Welcome to the Divided States of Famerica!

Standard

I am starting to fear that this is the movement going on in America. Just turn on your tv and you will see people holding signs that read F Trump. Listen up and you will hear voices joining together to scream their message across the land. F police, f elections, f rules, f the law. F you and you and you and everyone else who doesn’t want the same things I believe and share my same vision for the world. F republicans, f democrats, f the constitution, f her, f him, and f bigots. Do people even understand what that word really means? Im doubtful because wouldn’t they see the hypocrisy if they really did? F everything America stands for if we don’t get our way. Even Hollywood and the music industry is raising this message even higher. Where are the leaders and the role models who have been blessed with talents and opportunities to lead the people with some class? Is this the kind of leadership we need? Audacious people who go into Trump Tower and ask the President Elect to step down before he’s even sworn in? Who do people think they are these days? Has respect become a thing of the past? How about self respect? Do people feel no shame getting caught on video beating a veteran to his death, a mother who throws out her 7 year old son for supporting Trump? A class full of students who chant build that wall to humiliate another student? Do we blame these kids? They look up to us and what are we showing them? Who is instilling their fear? We are because we are selfish. Since when did we start treating little kids like they were adults? What will I tell my children? Tell them nothing right now they are children!  Maybe they should be the adults because I swear they act better than we do. They are open and kind and see the world through eyes of hope. What right do we have to rip that away? This is not their battle. It is ours. The adults. The teachers. The parents. Sigh! They are watching protestors hold signs that read RAPE MELANIA. They are listening to the news disrespect and demean our presidential candidates. They are hearing people are hateful, racist, xenophobic, sexist. KEEP putting those things out there long enough and eventually we will all believe it. Is it out there? Sure. People are always going to think they are better than someone else. We can’t make every drop of hate disappear but the majority of us are loving, kind human beings who are trying to get through everyday of our own lives. They are spinning the truth to make people seriously believe that there is a large majority of haters in this world. They spread the message that we hate foreigners. We hate gays and immigrants and we are trying to wipe these factions out of America. The truth is, a fact is that coming here illegally is against the law. Many of us want the laws followed. We believe they are there for our own protection  but when rules and laws can be broken without consequence and we become okay with that, we end up with people rioting and violence and destruction and we blame who? The people who respect and encourage law. I just don’t get it. The people I know care about people period. They don’t slap labels on them. They are just human beings trying to survive in a world where leaders have been purposely ripping us apart. It’s time to be honest and ask, what am I doing to contribute to this problem? This is not about the collective good of America, this is a pure selfish arrogance driven by energy that is destroying the United States. If my mother heard me say the words FU or hold a sign implying the same, I would shudder to think of the shame that would follow the first time she stood in front of me and looked into my eyes. She would always say, tell me your company and I will tell you who you are. Or this good one, if your friends jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge, would you thoughtlessly follow? People need to smarten up. They need to get real and honest and humble and take some time to breathe until we all can heal. We will figure this out but saying f you is not the answer. I don’t know what is. That is a clear way of saying I have no respect for whatever they are f’ing against. I am only one person but I am desperately trying to figure out a way to help. My fear is that when you read about this time period in the history books, we will be known as Famerica because America will be no more.

F Trump. Really?

Standard

We have built our kids up so much and catered to their every need that they do not know when to sit down and know their place. I have a daughter who will be going away to college. As I watch these college kids protest, I have to admit I am pretty disgusted. It is our job as parents to teach our kids the difference between freedom of speech and expression and flat out disrespect. This is the result of an education system that teaches our kids to be ashamed about there country. I have struggled with this narrative with my own kids and tried to be a different voice than the one they were hearing at school. Our country has had this electoral process in place from the beginning of time and it has always been an unspoken rule to accept the result of the vote and show our new President elect respect. I am embarrassed by our young people tonight. Everyone has the right to vote but when the results are in the game is over. What upsets me more than anything is neither major candidate came without some serious flaws including corruption. How can these kids be so dishonest about one candidate and attack another? I am all about perspective and I invite others and myself to try and see things in many ways but this tonight is really getting under my skin. These kids are swearing and saying dirty words and acting the same way they protest against. This is hypocrisy at its best. Be bitter or be better but be accountable for the energy you bring to this country that is already deeply disturbed and divided enough. I’m done.

Some People Are Just Ugly

Standard

Why in the world do I even jump in on a political conversation? In fact, I am questioning why I socialize with anyone during this drawn out and extremely damaging election season at all. One thing is certain. Hillary supporters are equally as ugly as Trump supporters. I am watching from afar many people I know turning into internet policemen. As soon as you type a single statement, the fact checkers come out of the darkness to respond FALSE! WRONG! UNTRUE! It’s sickening really because who are these fact checkers anyway? Are we not capable as a human race to decide for ourselves what is true and what is not. The absolute audacity of someone who believes they are so much smarter than everyone else. It’s insulting, condescending and unnecessary. Then you have the attack dogs, ready and willing to jump on anyone walking by wearing the opposing candidates t-shirt .I am seriously fed up. I’d really like to give these people a piece of my mind and ring a giant gong that would bounce them off of social media forever for causing riots and disturbing the peace. Instead, I will vent to my lovely fellow bloggers who offer nothing more than respect and support. I feel so much better already. Thanks for letting me vent. Oh and don’t be ugly! We have enough of that already.

Who Are You Voting For?

Standard

No seriously, do not answer that question. I really don’t care. I’m not even curious about who you think won the debate or who you think is the more disgraceful human being. I’m interested in the tone you use when you speak to others, your character and your ability to make peace and not start war. It absolutely pains me to see the worst of the worst come out in people at election time. Tonight’s first debate was no exception. What I don’t understand is how easily people make another’s presidential choice an opportunity to insult them personally. Statements like, someone like you who supports bigotry and racism..or better yet, how could you support a person who is basically the scum of the earth? It’s like an insulting way of insinuating that birds of a feather flock together and you are a disgraceful, dirty bird. This elitist I’m better than you or morally far above you attitude has got to stop. I have lost a tremendous amount of respect for so many people to the point that I almost wish I knew much less about them. I’m sick of rude and mean and smug and every insult, fact checker and anything else that goes along with it. The people whose comments I see are no better than the candidates they are too good to support or claim to hate. In fact, some display the exact same behavior that they complain about but they think they are on a level above everyone else and they can’t even see it in themselves. Its pathetic really how easily we jump to a conclusion about someone who believes something different than we do. Wouldn’t it be better off for everyone to ask why do you so strongly support whichever candidate instead of trying to demean and insult them when their choice is not the same as yours? Sometimes it’s best to not share every media post or even your opinion because at the end of the day the world needs less opinions and more kindness. But that’s what makes America great right? Our right to speak out even when it is causing tension and turmoil. The first amendment is a right but not an excuse to abuse or demean another human being. We are better than that right? At least we ought to be. That’s just my opinion but we already have enough of those.
